June 2024: "Just Ask!"
Dear Parents and Child Care Providers,
This month we celebrate the differences that make us all special and unique as we join Sonia and friends in the beautifully written and illustrated, “Just Ask!” written by Sonia Sotomayor and illustrated by Rafael Lopez.
This month’s focus is on understanding, accepting, and embracing different abilities and individual learning styles.
“Just Ask!” Read Along – Out Now!
Theme: Differing abilities and individual learning styles
Imagine a garden where every plant was exactly the same, or a garden full of playing children that are all exactly the same.
The beauty in life is found in the many, many differences we find in the world, from plants to children! Today’s reading celebrates our differences, and teaches us what makes us different and how we live with different abilities and superpowers!
So, what are your superpowers?
Story Stones, Rock Painting Learning Activity
In this month’s activity, “First Fridays: Story Stones, Rock Painting Activity” we focus on storytelling through art! Find some stones in your garden, on a beach, in the park, or in stores and encourage artistic expression to tell stories with stones!
For this activity you’ll need:
Rocks, preferably smooth stones
Child-friendly paint
Chalk
Markers
First Friday Song: The One & Only You / The Juicebox Jukebox / Character Building Kids Song
Turn it up and sing along with the chorus reminder to…
“Let’s all dance and have some fun ’cause there is only one of you and one me!!
